Barnstaple and Pilton would have been sick of the sight of Tom Gooding after his staring role for visitors Kilmington in the 75-run defeat at Taw Meadow.Gooding went in with Kilmington in trouble at 36 for three and struck a valuable 53 to anchor the innings. Gooding and Matt Rockett (39) shared a stand of 56 for the fifth wicket, then Alex Rockett (36) nursed the lower order to a final tally of 209 all out. Spinner George McEndoo was the pick of the Barnstaple bowlers with three for 33. Steve Moore (1-27) kept it tight as usual. Barnstaple & Piltons innings never really got out of second gear as they crawled to 134 all out. McEndoo opened up and was seventh out at 106 for 36 runs. Jack Moore (18) and Paul Schiller (17) had the only other double-figure scores. Gooding (3-19) and Tom Olive (3-31) finished Barnstaple off after Brett Garner (2-26) had damaged them early on. Barnstaple & Pilton make the long trip to Uplyme & Lyme Regis this Saturday.
