Ed Cross, Will Robson and Troy Elworthy all had bouts for the club over the weekend.

A busy weekend for Barnstaple Amateur Boxing Club saw three of their fighters take to the ring.

Ed Cross come up against a strong opponent from Warriors boxing club in Torquay.

With his opponent the aggressor for a lot of the first round, Cross used his jab and reach well to keep out of trouble, scoring good shots on the back foot.

The second round saw a wide range of skills from the Barnstaple boxer, timing his shots and attacks well but also showing good footwork and head movement.

With the Warriors boxer starting to tire, Cross took full advantage by landing flurries of punches to the head and body to dominate the final round.

In a good competitive bout Cross took the win with a majority decision.

Coaches Mark Simpson and Mitch Warburton took Troy Elworthy and Will Robson up to Kettering School of Boxing's home show.

Robson was up first against the home team's John Lovering, and was looking to settle a score after losing a previous bout.

Robson found his range in a fierce contest but after a real to and fro battle, it was Lovering who took a majority decision.

Elworthy met Kai McCann, who recently fought the Barnstaple boxer in a junior final.

In a tight and powerful contest, Elworthy launched some huge attacks, but lost out by way of a split decision.

This weekend will see Liam Laird in action for the club in an ABA Senior quarter-final in Earlsfield.
