Barnstaple had every incentive to win at Sandford as they were contesting the third promotion spot with Chardstock. The top three of Robin Norton (41), George McEndoo (42) and Jack Moore (42) got Barnstaple up to 110 for two. Lee Cole (29) chipped in towards the final product of 235 for eight. There were two wickets each for Sandford bowlers Greg Lewis, Shaun Hawkins, and Tom Williams. Hawkins led the unsuccessful Sandford run chase with 91 off 93 balls. He went in at 41 for one and was sixth out at 183 to James Lake (3-51). North Devon, four points behind Sandford with a round to play, knew they had to win at Clyst St George to stand a chance of dodging the drop. St George, who were safely over the relegation waterline, made 183 all out. Freddie Creer made 24 and Jayak Nallala top scored with 59. There was a slump from 130 for five to 134 for nine Tim Cooke and Archie Popham taking two wickets each but last pair Shane Coe (18) and Bertie Creer (24no) put on 49. North Devon needed one big score and a stand or two to hang a chase one. Other than James Tyson (28) and Jay Rothery (25) the got neither. A mid-order slum from 41 for one to 63 for five was North Devons undoing. Sam Read (4-9) and James Edworthy (2-17) combined to bowl out North Devon for 123.
