AFTER a year of trying, Bandits finally won their first North Devon Table Tennis League match, beating Torrington B 6-4 in Division 2.

Doubles from Mike Hill, Ben Crompton and young debutante Paulo Symons created team history, but then a determined session from Torrington’s Nathan Sussex, who won all three, and a win with Harry Collins in the doubles, kept the damage to a minimum.

Hopefuls’ strong Division 2 start continues, Len Weston still unbeaten. But a brace apiece from Alan Slade and Alan Pemberton gave opponents Dolphins four good points against the leaders.

Paul Laverty and Simon Fellowes, playing his first game for Adjudicators, were too strong for Commodores in Division 1.

Their 8-2 win brings Adjudicators back to the top after last week’s defeat.

Torrington A took on a reduced Smugglers and thanks to the father and son Kevin and Ben Taylor ran out comfortable winners.

Div 1: Adjudicators 8, Commodores 2 (P Laverty, S Fellowes 3); Nymptons 6 Holsworthy A 4 (D Salisbury 3); Torrington A 7, Smugglers 3 (K Taylor, B Taylor 3).

Div 2: Bandits 6, Torrington B 4 (N Sussex 3); Herons 8, Untouchables 2 (R Gale 3)

Hopefuls 6, Dolphins 4 (L Weston 3).
