The event organised by Bideford Bridge Rotary Club and North Devon Triathletes took place on Sunday.

More than 200 athletes gathered on Bideford Quay for the Bideford Triathlon.

The event, which was organised by Bideford Bridge Rotary Club and North Devon Triathletes, took place on Sunday morning.

The route kicked off with a 500m swim along the River Torridge before a 23km cycle through Weare Giffard, Torrington and Monkleigh.

The race finished with a 5km run on the Tarka Trail.

First place went to Harry Edney, who completed the course in 1hr, 5mins and 9secs.

Edney’s cycle paved the way for his win, completing the second leg of the competition in 39mins and 34secs.

Peter Wilby was second fastest, crossing the line in 1hr, 6mins and 26secs, while third went to Ian Wright, who came in in 1hr, 9mins and 21secs.

Exeter Triathlon’s Vikki Thompson was the fastest female, crossing the line in 1hr, 12mins and 34secs.

North Devon Triathletes’ Lee Shepherd (1:10:47) was the fastest male veteran, while Linda Dabbs (1:18:27) was the fastest female.

The super veterans’ category saw Martin Rogers (1:10:54) finish first, with Rebecca Timothy (1:22:25) the fastest female.

In the relays, Team NRM cross the line first with a time of 1hr, 10mins and 4secs.

Team Octavians, a team of competitors over the age of 80, finished in 2hrs, 2mins and 6secs.
