The Royal North Devon Pro’s Day had some divine intervention when Rev Alan Glover had a hole in one at the 16th.Two days earlier Hugh Bone achieved the same feet at the 8th.

The Lady Captain’s Day saw a strong field on a nice day with Angie White scoring 37 points to take the prize by three points.

Holsworthy Vets: The Memorial Trophy, played this year, with John Haywood & Ron Lock in the competitors thoughts. The competition, a 9 hole medal, 9 hole stableford took place in fairly decent weather, a quick shower and no gale force winds which seem to have become the norm. The winner of the Memorial Trophy and Division 1 with a score of 15 was Alan Abrams. A very good score for a single figure handicapper. 2nd Reg Daniel 17. 3rd Chris Woolley 19. Div, 2, 1st Steve Morrell 17. 2nd Bob Davies 18. 3rd Roger Turner 19.

Veterans League: After three rounds of B division competition Holsworthy have moved to the top with 20 points, two ahead of Libbaton (18) with Royal North Devon third (16) and Ilfracombe fourth (6). Libbaton round - 1 Libbaton 166 (8); 2 Holsworthy 163 (6); 3 RND 154 (4); 4 Ilfracombe 130 (4). RND round - 1 RND. 173 (12); 2 Holsworthy 151 (12); 3 Libbaton 149 (12); 4 Ilfracombe 130 (4). Holsworthy round - 1 Holsworthy 163 (20); 2 Libbaton 156 (18); 3 R.N.D. 156 (16); 4 Ilfracombe 152 (6): At Holsworthy it proved the importance of the best dropped score as this made the difference between Libbaton and RND and could decide the championship.
