Appledore ladies’ gig rowers took on the might of 14 Cornish crews at Newlyn regatta on Saturday and returned with three top-six places. The long course suited the stamina and tenacity of the Appledore ladies. Their A-Team took sixth place, the B team were fifth and the veterans came in second.

These were great results for the ladies, who are going from strength to strength in the club’s 10th anniversary year. Following their successes at the world championships in the Scilly Isles, the North Devon gig clubs are now really starting to test those from Cornwall and South Devon.
