ONE thousand runners are expected to take part in the Bideford Half-Marathon this Sunday.The race starts at 10.30am and will be set off by former Test cricket umpire David Shepherd of Instow.Among those taking part will be Morrisons supermarket cashier Helen Gaskell, who is hoping customers will help her make a big cheque out for the UK Asthma charity.Her employers are allowing Helen to place collection buckets in the Bideford store so customers can show their support. It is hoped to have an equally big crowd to watch as the big entry of runners make their way towards Torrington and back.
