BARNSTAPLE U15s continued their good run of form to secure an impressive 62-5 win over Exeter Chiefs.

Barum set the tone with a try in the first minute and scored five unanswered tries through centre Tom Clark (2), wing Matt Morrish (2) and centre Jimmy Challis. Matthew Symons added three conversions to make the half-time score 31-0.

Centre Zach Venner Houlford scored an excellent solo try early in the second half. Then the forwards took over. Matt Giblett (2), Henry Watkins and Harry Bayliss crossed for tries with Bug Hall adding three conversions.

BARNSTAPLE U13s were 14-10 losers against Newton Abbot in the first round of the O’Neil’s Devon Cup.

BARNSTAPLE U12s started their season at Exeter Saracens in a festival format along with Devonport Services, Exeter Chiefs and a combined Exeter Barbarians side.

Barum finished up a narrow second to Devonport Services by a point.

Dylan Gosling scored the only try in the opening 5-0 win against Exeter Chiefs. The second game produced their only defeat, 15-0 to eventual winners Devonport Services.

Barum hit back with two wins to finish off in style - a 20-0 win over Exeter Saracens (Dylan Gosling, Casey George, George Richardson and Sam Smale the scorers) was followed by a 20-5 win over Exeter Barbarians (Callum Webb, Smale (2) and Max Mepsted).

BARNSTAPLE U10s travelled to Exeter Saracens for a four-way fixture with Exeter Chiefs and Devonport Services also in attendance.

Saracens won the first game.The second game was against Exeter Chiefs and it ended in a 5-5 draw. Ellis Rees scored for Barnstaple in the first half.

The last game was against Devonport Services. Despite a half-time lead of 2-0 with tries from Rees and Patrick Clifton, a tiring Barum conceded three scores from turnovers.

Barnstaple U9s won their trophy by going unbeaten all day.

BIDEFORD U9s won 55-10 at Crediton in their first game of contact rugby.

The tries scorers were Sam Abbott (2), Jacob Stevenson (4), Adam Leworthy (1) and Matthew Lewis (4).

Bideford still have places on their new junior ladies’ team for girls aged 10 to 15 years. The team trains on a Thursday evenings (6pm) at Bideford RFC.
