NORTH Devon 2nd XI proved too strong for 10-man Tavistock by a hefty margin of 166 runs.

North Devon hared to 292 for seven with McCauley Harrison-Hooton (59) and Dan Pickard (70) making 85 for the second wicket. Ricky Kelly added 62 not out off 37 balls at the end.

Rob Milligan’s 53 was as good as it got for Tavvy, who were bowled out for 116 by Rob Mann (5-20) and Ollie Hunt (3-22).

Braunton were in the driving seat for most of the game against Heathcoat, but lacked the bowling firepower to kill them off.

After Walid Iqbal (20) and Sam Lathwell (23) had been and gone, Mark Lathwell (68no) and Dave Cresswell (68) put on 133 for the fourth wicket in Braunton’s total of 229 for five.

Mark Lathwell (4-28) and son Jason (2-21) had a lot to do with Heathcoat only making 165 for eight in reply.

Barton ran out of puff against Hatherleigh, whose total of 180 for seven owed a lot to an opening stand of 78 between Tom Rogers (41) and Mark Jones (29). Mike Liveseley was the pick of the Barton bowlers with five for 29.

Martin Powell (32) and extras (42) accounted for the bulk of Barton’s 132 for seven in reply.

Bideford got the brake on just in time to stop Abbotskerswell winning on the chase at Westward Ho!

Mark Stanbury (62no) and Fergus Bradbeer (51) steered Bideford to 182 all out. Wright then top scored with 55 and skipper Guy Harrison-Roberts made 35 as Abbots went off in pursuit.

James Corry (3-41) and Fred King (2-33) hauled Abbots back to 170 for seven at the close.

Barnstaple & Pilton eased their relegation worries in the C Division, where only one side goes down, by beating Shobrooke Park by seven wickets.

Shobrooke, who are bottom of the table were held to 131 for five and Pete Rose made 52 of them.

Joe Johnson’s 62 not out broke the back of the chase.

North Devon III were unable to raise a side to face kentisbeare in the D Divison East.
