BIDEFORD Blues and Appledore Soccability football squad had a great debut season in the Devon Ability Counts League for disabled footballers, finishing runners-up in Division 2.

During the season the team played matches against clubs from across Devon, including Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City.

Soccability has been running since 2009 and offers coaching sessions and matches for footballers aged 16-plus with learning difficulties or sensory and physical impairments.

The new Ability Counts Football League season kicks off at Bideford Blues and Appledore Junior FC on October 10. Men's and junior disability teams from across Devon will be coming to Torridgeside for the first day fixture, with an expected 200-plus players in attendance. Games will kick off at 11am and run until 3.30pm.
