Singer songwriter Jim Jones’ new album and new name to be unveiled at Barnstaple launch party.

NORTH Devon singer songwriter Jim Jones is launching his brand new album in Barnstaple on Saturday, February 4 under his new moniker Small Town Jones.

Tickets are now available for the launch party of Freight Ships, taking place at The Factory on the Petroc Brannams campus in Roundswell from 7.30pm.

Fed up with a name that competed with artists, other bands, comedians and even a suicidal cult leader, Jim created Small Town Jones as his new musical vehicle, collaborating with long-time friend and well known local musician Dave Little.

The album’s title track was described as “annoyingly good” by Dermot O’ Leary when it received airplay on his Radio 2 show.

Making a real impression, Jim and Dave were invited onto Dermot’s show in December for an interview and to play the live lounge sessions. The DJ has continued to champion them, regularly playing Small Town Jones tracks.

Freight Ships is described as classic Anglo-Americana, with Jim’s cracked, emotional, English voice playing against the widescreen sounds of a Texan setting.
