Evening with Elkie Brooks will raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West

INTERNATIONAL singing star Elkie Brooks has announced plans to perform in Barnstaple for the first time in more than a decade.

Next summer’s homecoming concert at the Queen’s Theatre is being held in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West and tickets to see the million-selling artist are expected to sell out fast.

Elkie Brooks will be performing a number of her classic hits in her inimitable blues style on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

The recording artist, who will be supported by local singing sensation Jenna Witts at an evening being hosted by BBC Radio Devon’s Judi Spiers, said: “I am so delighted to be able to raise funds for this wonderful charity by performing a special concert in Barnstaple.

“I am always overwhelmed by the stellar work of all the staff at Children’s Hospice South West and admire them very much. I look forward to a fun and memorable evening.”

Emma Perry, community fund-raiser for the hospice said she was delighted that Elkie had chosen the concert to raise vital funds for the children and families the charity supports.

“We are thrilled to have an artiste of such calibre performing for us in this special one-off concert. I for one will be looking forward to enjoying this musical delight.”
