FOR the first time in 12 years the Robeda Trophy has been won by shooters from outside the Bideford Rifle Club.

Two Tiverton members took the trophy this year by three points.

Home club Bideford salvaged some satisfaction, however, with the highest individual score of 590/600 going to Martin Morgan.

Martin and partner Ann Travis took second place overall, equal on points with clubmates Pete and Mog Thomson, who took third.

Three shots achieved a possible 100 score on one of their cards - Martin Morgan and Michael Coombs of Bideford and Ben Blewett of Tiverton.

The annual competition is held between Bideford and other invited clubs. Competitors had 60 shots each over 50 metres, with a brisk, swirling breeze making conditions tricky.

The handicap competition was won by 14-year-old Ben Morgan and a bench rest competition was won by his grandfather David Morgan.
