Saunton hosts the next generation of golfing stars

What a few days it has been for Saunton Golf Club, hosting England Golf’s Brabazon Trophy.

144 of the best amateur golfers from around the world took on our East Course on Thursday and Friday, with the top 60 making it through to play two further rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Conditions were fairly kind overall except for some stronger winds that lingered on Friday afternoon.

The Trophy Presentation included Men's Captain Trevor Reynolds, and England Golf's President Les Wilson

But it was South Africa’s Christiaan Maas, just 18 years of age, who came out on top. Maas was the only player to shoot all four rounds under par, finishing on a -14 total and winning by five shots.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers, who were a team of 51. Everything went smoothly with their help and we had some tremendous feedback from players, spectators and Members.

If you went out to watch some of the golf, we hope you enjoyed watching some of the stars of the future.
