Bideford unbeaten in last three

BIDEFORD picked up their fifth point in three games with a 0-0 draw at Paulton Rovers on Monday night.

The result followed a 1-1 draw against Zamaretto Southern League Division One South and West leaders AFC Totton on Saturday afternoon and a 4-3 win at bottom club Andover on Tuesday week.

The Robins looked to be heading to a shock win against Totton when Matt Bye gave them the lead in the 80th minute. The visitors equalised with a penalty by Mike Gosney two minutes from time.

The club was boosted this week with news of the welcome return of Rob Francis as assistant manager. Francis, 30, was forced to cut short his playing career due to an Achilles injury last month but will now help manager Sean Joyce with the running of the side.

Bideford travel to second-placed Sholing on Saturday before an away game at third-placed Mangotsfield United on Monday night.

In the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, Ilfracombe Town lost 1-0 at home to Odd Down and Barnstaple Town were well beaten 5-2 by leaders Larkhall Athletic.

On Saturday, Barnstaple are at home to Longwell Green Sports, while Ilfracombe are at home to Larkhall Athletic in round three of the Les Phillips League Cup.

Next Tuesday, Ilfracombe Town take on Bristol Manor Farm in a league fixture at Marlborough Park.
