TOP scorer Kevin Squire struck twice to steer Bideford to victory over Bridgwater and maintain their five point lead at the top of the Evo Stik League Southern One.

The 4-0 victory over the Somerset side saw the Robins notch up their 50th league goal of the season and extend their unbeaten run to 14 matches.

It was a confidence booster as they head into a potential tough test at home to fourth-placed Gosport Borough this Saturday.

Squire was on target with a volleyed goal following a Matt Hockley free kick in the opening 10 minutes to set Bideford on track.

Matt Andrew doubled their lead with a run from midfield and a well placed drive from the edge of the area. On the hour Andrew’s drive into the box was met and nodded in from close range by Sean Downing for number three.

Andrew, Matt Bye and Ian Sampson all had a hand in number four, their good approach play creating the opportunity for Squire to snatch his second.
