Barnstaple Town punished during ‘20 minutes of madness’

BARNSTAPLE Town Reserves were beaten 5-1 at Fresha Devon and Exeter Premier Division leaders Seaton Town on Saturday.

Barum are the only team to have beaten Seaton in the league this season, strangely, a 5-1 victory on the opening day of the season.

Manager Terry Chapple said his side matched the hosts for the first 20 minutes but threw the game away during “20 minutes of madness” in which they conceded four goals before the break.

It was a tough end to the half for Barnstaple, who were forced to replace midfielders Josh Pearce and Jason Jones through injury.

The hosts made it 5-0 from the penalty spot after the break before Billy Tucker pulled a goal back for the visitors.

Manager Chapple said: “Seaton are a good outfit and we faced an uphill struggle in the second half but played for pride.”
