BIRTHDAY boy James Starkey and centre Adam Crouch both scored try hat-tricks as Cornwall & Devon leaders Bideford ran up a 123-3 win over Stithians.
Bideford have passed 100 points in the league before - the now-defunct Prince Rock side were on the receiving end - but this was a new league record for the club.
Starkey, celebrating his 21st birthday and captain for the day, couldn’t put a foot wrong while Crouch, son of Bideford stalwart Phil, showed that he is more than a chip off the old block as well.
Bideford were past 50 points at half time and by then were scoring almost at will. It is almost easier to list the players who didn’t score, rather than those who did. The full list of try scorers was Starkey (2), Sam Olde (2), Crouch (2), James O’Sullivan (2), John Mock, Ben Westaway, Harry Elliott, Chris Snell 3, Dave Slee, and Lee Weston. Olly Wickett kicked the rest of the points.
