North Devon group launches programme of walks to suit all abilities

THE North Devon Ramblers group has just launched its summer programme of walks and events.

The group has planned a series of seven-to-10-mile walks and has also introduced a new style of walk for those who want to take things at a gentler pace.

Joan Long, group chairman, said: “We hope the new initiative will appeal to those who prefer a ‘nice and easy’ option.

“Three-to-four-mile walks will take place on the third Wednesday of each month, normally with a lunch or tea option at the end. The walks will be taken at a very easy pace and the meal will give an opportunity to socialise.”

The group is also linking up with the Devon Wildlife Trust and the Dartmoor National Park to take part in the Ramblers’ “Get Walking Day”, taking place over the weekend 14 and 15 of May.

“We welcome inquiries from non-members, who are invited to join us for a few taster walks before signing up to the Ramblers,” added Joan.
