Old quarry could become wildlife habitat

Plans to restore Venn Quarry near Landkey to a natural site are being unveiled to the public.

The quarry stopped work in 2006 and site owners Aggregate Industries UK Ltd are now proposing to restore the site to create wildlife interest and promote nature conservation habitats.

Exhibitions will be held at Bishops Tawton Village Hall on Thursday of next week (September 15) from 4-8pm and on Wednesday, September 28 at Landkey Village Hall from 4-8pm.

People will be able to view the proposals in detail, ask questions and add their comments.

The restoration will take place over two to three years and focus on the older part of the quarry known as the Main Pit or Baileys plus interim restoration of Spears Pit.
