Promotion in their grasp

BIDEFORD’S promotion bandwagon rolls on after they demolished Falmouth 51-19.

Falmouth kept in touch up to half time and turned around 27-14 down.

The second half was quiet for the first 20 minutes and only warmed up in the final quarter.

A half-hour delay while Bideford’s Lee Weston was treated for a back injury didn’t help.

Chris Snell led the Bideford try parade with two while Ollie Wickett, James O’Sullivan, Dave Slee, Adam Crouch and Andrew Loosemore had one each. Wickett launched five conversions and two penalties.

One more point from the 25 to play for in the last five games will guarantee Bideford promotion, which should be a formality for a side with 21 wins in 22 starts. Seven more points will secure the divisional title ahead of St Austell.

Bideford will have the champagne on ice when they play Torrington at home this Saturday.

Torrington and South Molton had no games last Saturday. Ilfracombe were beaten 25-3 by Devonport High School Old Boys.
