Platinum Jubilee Waste & Recycling Collection Changes in Torridge

Joseph Bulmer

Street parties, bunting and beacons! The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is nearly upon us and due to a double bank holiday, Torridge District Council will be making some changes to their waste and recycling calendar.

Collections Changes:

There will be NO collections on the 2nd and 3rd June.

All collections that would normally be made on the 2nd June will take place on Saturday 4th June.

Collections due on the 3rd June will take place on Monday 6th June.

All other waste and recycling collections normally due during the week commencing 6th June will take place a day later than usual for the whole week.

A normal collection timetable will resume on Monday 13th June.

Full details of the bank holiday changes for your address can be seen on the Torridge Council website at: www.torridge.gov.uk/collectiondates

Torridge are also asking event organisers to help keep their celebrations green by thinking about waste collection at their events and how they can recycle and reduce waste. The top tips include:

Plastics and Cans - Wash and squash any plastics or cans and put them in the green kerbside box. Squashing plastic bottles and cans helps free up extra space in the green box making it easier to collect and recycle more.

Glass - All glass bottles and jars can be recycled in the black kerbside box.

Cardboard - Make sure that any cardboard placed out for collection fits into the brown bag. Torridge advise that their crews don’t have the space to take large, oversized boxes or loose piles of cardboard. They do allow two bags per household and these can be ordered online at: www.torridge.gov.uk/wasterecycling

Recycling centres throughout Torridge also accept cardboard. The nearest centre can be found using this link: www.devon.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling/centre/

Kerbside Food Caddies - Households can use plastic bags such as carrier bags to line their caddies. Lining the caddies will help to keep them clean and will makes them nicer for households and Torridge crews to handle.
