Plans for Bideford wharves go on show
Positive feedback at regeneration consultation
PROPOSALS for the future of two important Bideford wharf sites have been given their first airing to members of the public.
More than 100 people attended an all-day community consultation on East-the-Water’s Brunswick and Clarence wharves on Friday.
The event at Bideford Town Hall was held to gauge people’s thoughts on how to redevelop the historic site. Among the proposals are a public square type area, riverside walkways and mix of cafes, restaurants and retail outlets, as well as new homes and community facilities.
“The site has all the right ingredients, we just need to make sure we use the right combination,†said architect James Brookes.
Peter Quincey, project manager at the North Devon+, added: “People were generally very supportive and want to see something happen. We’ve been given some great feedback and have some good ideas about how we can move forward.â€
A similar exhibition is being held in the town hall this Friday, from 12noon-7pm to unveil ideas for the Bridge Street car park site.
