The School Games Mark is a government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active. Pilton Bluecoat Academy are thrilled to have been recognised for their success.

This award recognises the work that our school carries out to provide all our children the opportunity to enjoy, participate and compete in a range of sports. It also recognises the opportunity that children have to develop their leadership skills through the organising and running of sporting activities and events.”

Head of Pilton Bluecoat school, Dan Polak added: "We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible.

"We believe in the power of physical activity but also the power of competition. We know how sport teaches us stories that we can apply to our broader life and one of our mantras is about how defeats enrich us in the same way victories do.

"As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas linked to the five School Games outcomes and we are especially proud to have made progress in our targeting of our most vulnerable children for these opportunities, to give them a taster of the breadth of experience that different sports can offer them."
