Young runners have a lark in the park

YOUNG runners had a lark in the park at the third annual Bideford Junior Fun Run on Saturday.

The event featured races for different age groups including a 50metre toddler dash for toddlers and a mile race for older children.

As well as the races, youngsters enjoyed warm-up routines, bouncy castles and face painting, as well as a performance by daredevil trail bike rider Andrei Burton, who also presented medals to the winners.

The event was organised by Bideford charity Wings South West, which helps young people to develop skills, self-esteem and confidence.

Money raised on the day went to Children’s Hospice South West.

Emma Perry, community fund-raiser at the children’s hospice, said: “We are hugely grateful to Milly Peart and the team at Wings for running this event on our behalf.

“Our families and children are at the heart of what we do and we are proud to be supported by a local charity that also holds young people at the heart of what it does.”
