League leaders march on with 2-1 win at Buckland Brewer

SAM Pett scored twice as Intermediate Two leaders Torridgeside Reserves continued their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win at Buckland Brewer at Saturday.

Pett put Torrie in front twice either side of Arran Brooks’ early second half strike.

Brewer had a player sent off for abusive language and there were heroics from goalkeeper Jordan North, who saved a penalty from Jay Sullivan.

Barnstaple FC kept the heat on the leaders with a 7-4 win at home to Braunton Fourths, who started the day fourth in the table.

Tom and Connor Nash both scored two each and there were singles for Andy Vernon, Sam Phillips and Dale Russell.

Mark Davis scored a hat-trick for Northam Lions Thirds in a 7-1 win at South Molton Reserves. Mark Hallett scored two and there were singles for fellow Lions Ali Bright and Tony Ambrose. Tom Roode scored a second half penalty for the Images.

There was a hat-tick for Shaun Hastings in Anchor Chiefs’ 7-0 win at North Molton Thirds. The Chief’s other goals were scored by Ali Davidson, Martin Ashton, Darren Smith and an own goal.

Not to be done in the hat-trick stakes, Bratton Fleming’s Kevin Shaddick joined the three-up club with a triple strike against Hartland Reserves.

Ryan Dale and Neil Tweedie also scored in the 5-1 win. Russell Sharman scored the consolation for Hartland.
