BARNSTAPLE U16s put a poor first-half performance behind them to beat Sidmouth 33-5.

Coach Tony Sumner gave the forwards the 'hairdryer treatment' at half time and things perked up after that. Josh Beech, James Hack, Danny Giblett and Lee Casinelli all caught the eye in the second half.

When Justin Southam chased down a lost cause it paid dividends. After charging down a kick from the Sidmouth full-back Southam beat the defence to the ball to touch down the first try.

Man of the match Scott Warren made a lovely cutting run through the Sidmouth defence and offloaded to Ben Ward to score in the corner.

Fly half Iwan Williams gave an inside pass to scrum-half Calum Sumner, who threw a long pass over to Josh Beech, who ran over in the corner.

Iwan Williams scored a well-taken try to seal the win.

Charlie Bishop made it eight tries in six games when he went in under the posts.

Warren landed four conversions out of five.
