Tiny village primary gets top marks from education inspectors

A SMALL North Devon Church of England School has received an outstanding Ofsted report.

Black Torrington Primary School, which has only 29 pupils, is judged as outstanding both in its overall effectiveness and for its capacity for sustained improvement.

The Ofsted report highlights the “highly effective teaching and exceptionally stimulating curriculum” as crucial factors in the “excellent progress” made by all pupils.

Headteacher of four years Celia Luff, who along with her staff is highly praised in the report, said: “We are all really thrilled with the result because it is a tribute to all the hard work of everyone in the school – the children, staff, parents and governors.

“Everyone has shown commitment and dedication and we’ve had tremendous support from our local community.”
