'Our fun at recreation centre was just wonderful'

North Devon Gazette

Over 40 local people from 23 families enjoyed a thrilling day out at The Calvert Trust Exmoor recreation centre.

Players, parents, enablers and coaches from the Braunton Football Club Inclusion Team took part in abseiling, climbing, zip wire, horse riding, archery and rope swinging on Saturday.

The visit to the centre was part funded by the Devon Children’s Commissioning teams small grants scheme for disabled children.

Coach Mel Benson said: "We specifically applied for this funding to enable us to work with The Calvert Trust Exmoor to put on a fantastic experience for our players.

To see them overcome their fears and achieve goals they never thought were possible is just wonderful.

"We are so grateful to have had this opportunity. The happiness and fun the players and their families have had has been amazing to witness. Thank you to the Children’s commissioning team and The Calvert Trust.”

The players are now all looking forward to the restart of The Devon Ability Counts League next weekend.
