Opals shine with their first win

Carol Anne Opals gained their first win of the season in the North Devon Netball League in a Division 4 match against Exmoor Beasties that was closely fought to the final whistle.

Exmoor took an early seven goal lead thanks to great movement by Sarah Shorten in the mid-court. But Opals kept working and chipping away at the lead, with Ellie Carter shooting accurately to give them the edge with a few minutes to go. The whole team defended, determined to win their first game of the season, and did so by just two goals.

Titans Pluto continued their dominanceof this division, but their victory was not as easy as in previous games, with opponents Carol Anne Topaz showing a much improved standard of play.

Bude Satellites continue to rise up the Division 3 table, superb defence by Grace Parker leading them to a 43-34 win over Misfits.

The Coodes and North Devon Homes Stars match was a battle of the shooters, with Chris Southern gaining more opportunities to convert for victory while Maxine White shot accurately, but had insufficient ball to make enough of an impact.

In Division 1 the Titans teams Apollo and Neptune showed they mean business, beating Venners Bakery Cobras and Pat Williams Girls respectively by more than 25 goals.
