North Devon Link Road crash

THERE were traffic holdups on the North Devon Link Road yesterday (Wednesday) following a two car collision near the picnic site at Rook’s Bridge between Bideford and Barnstaple.

The carriageway from Barnstaple to Bideford was closed for two-and-a-half hours following the accident at 4pm. Travellers towards Bideford were able to continue their journeys via a diversion through the picnic site.

Fire and ambulance crews were needed to release the driver of a Ford Focus, which ended up on its roof. A Volkswagen Golf came to rest on a grass verge.

Both drivers were taken to hospital, but are not thought to have been seriously injured.
