Bideford’s heritage was celebrated in glamorous awards ceremony for school children in the area.

Bideford's young talent was honoured in a glamorous awards ceremony on Friday.

The third annual Grenville Renown Awards For Torridge Area (GRAFTAs) was held at Bideford College.

Young people from across Torridge could enter their artwork - from painting and sculptures to poetry, and baking, representing Bideford's history.

Organiser Carolyn Hinton said she was on 'cloud nine' after the event.

She said: "From the red carpet to the after show party, it was a night to celebrate Bideford and community's heritage.

"Firstly, attendees were all privileged to see such a diverse array of local creativity and artistic ability on display in the grand exhibition before applauding the young winners whose endeavour and skill was rewarded with Dartington Crystal Trophies, sponsor's prize money and Milky Way tickets.

"Pride in local heritage is the order of the day and
the GRAFTAs go from strength-to-strength."

The Laureate Crown - awarded to the overall winner of the night - was given to Zsofia Droppa, aged 11, from St Mary's School.

Performances of some of the winning acts will take place on Sunday at the Heritage Service in St Mary's Church from 10am.
