LIONS have roared in to provide new books for some enthusiastic young readers in Bideford.Colin Rickard, president of Bideford Lions' Club, presented a cheque for £1,500 to Robert Fancourt, head teacher at St Mary's Primary School. The money will go towards buying sets of books to be read by a group of enthusiastic children at Key Stage 2, who are involved in a new lunchtime book reading club. After the books have been read and discussed by the club members, they will be included in the school library for other pupils to enjoy. Mr Rickard has chosen the youth of Bideford as his area for special support this year and this was an opportunity to give back to the community some of the money which the Bideford Lions have collected over the past year.Anyone interested in joining or obtaining information about the Lions' Club can contact Mike Hacker at:-michael@michaelhacker.orangehome.co.uk
