FAMILIES are being invited to flock into Rock Park, Barnstaple, to join a national attempt to set the record for the world's largest picnic.Barnstaple Town Council and Barnstaple Lions' Club are combining to organise the local event - part of National Family Week - on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25.Anyone can join in the attempt. All that's needed is a rug or mat, food and drink including a minimum of two courses per person - sandwiches and cake, for example.There will be many attractions in Rock Park to keep families entertained, including stalls, face painting, entertainers, music and side shows.Families need to register before 1pm to be counted towards the world record attempt.National Family Week is a brand new initiative running from May 25-31.
