Work complete at ‘danger junction’

New Westleigh Junction traffic light scheme set to go live on Wednesday.

A NEW traffic light scheme at the Westleigh Junction is due to go live tomorrow (Wednesday).

The 630,000 Devon County Council scheme on the A39 near Bideford will be switched on after the morning rush hour, according to the council.

Work to improve long-standing safety issues at the junction started on September 5 and is set to be finished one week ahead of schedule.

Rodney Cann, county councillor for Fremington Rural, said: “I’m confident that it will make a significant difference to safety at this junction and will cut out problems experienced, particularly by elderly drivers.”
