Woolacombe surfer airlifted to safety

A search and rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor went into action this morning to pluck a surfer from a challenging sea at Woolacombe. The 31-year-old local man was being swept towards rocks by a westerly gale at the north end of Woolacombe at about 8.45

The 31-year-old local man was being swept towards rocks by a westerly gale at the north end of Woolacombe at about 8.45am.
The man and his board were airlifted to the safety of the shore. He was not injured.
