Golden Coast Holiday Village scoops national title in Great British Park Off

Woolacombe has the best beach in the UK - now it has the best holiday park as well after Golden Coast Holiday Village scooped the title.

It beat off stiff competition from 150 locations to win the Great British Park Off run by Towergate Insurance.

The flagship park for Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks received 37 per cent of the vote after the public were asked to choose their favourite.

Kevin Darvill, sales and marketing director for the company, said they were judged against customer feedback, choice and quality of on-site facilities, as well as its appeal for all ages.

"It's great for us to get that recognition of what we have done at Golden Coast," he said.

"We have built from scratch over the years and we have a long term plan to invest in facilities and accommodation even further.

"Coupled with the TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Awards naming Woolacombe as the UK's best beach earlier in the year, it really is the 'icing on the cake."

The park has been owned by the Lancaster family for 40 years, with the company also running Woolacombe Bay Holiday Park Twitchen, Easewell Farm and Woolacombe Bay Hotel.

Owner Rudi Lancaster added: "we're absolutely delighted so many of our customers love what we do so much they took the time to vote for us.

"So to thank all of our guests, and to introduce our park to families who'd like to see for themselves what makes us a winner, we'll be having a big celebration over the August bank holiday weekend."
