WOOLACOMBE author Joy Shiplee has had her first book published at the grand old age of 80.
Litoki Dam, published by Authorhouse, is the story of the building of a dam in the beautiful African bushland.
A farmer and a tea planter, whose land will be flooded, try to stop the project but it goes relentlessly ahead, taking along with it the traumas, romances and heartaches of all those involved.
Joy, who lived in Africa for several years, is a founder member of Ilfracombe Writers' Circle and has several more manuscripts she hopes will be published.
