The cause of a fire at a flat in Westward Ho! last night is under investigation by the fire service.

A woman was treated for smoke inhalation after a flat fire in Westward Ho! yesterday (Sunday).

Two fire engines were called to the ground floor flat in Kingsley Road at 9.15pm last night.

They got to work extinguishing the fire using two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus.

The fire was out within an hour-and-a-half but the flat suffered 10 per cent fire damage and 80 per cent smoke damage.

A woman at the scene was given oxygen therapy and advised to seek further help from paramedics at the scene.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
