FIRE crews were called out to help ambulance personnel after a woman fell 60 feet down a river bank at the Watersmeet beauty spot near Lynmouth this afternoon (Wednesday).

One fire appliance from Lynton and one from Combe Martin went to the scene. A special rescue vehicle from Camels Head was also initially mobilised, but was later turned back.

A search and rescue helicopter was also called out and the fire and ambulance crews removed the casualty to the helicopter for transportation to hospital.
