Two men allegedly assaulted following Saturday evening clash in Well Street

A glass was smashed over a man’s head during an alleged assault in a Torrington street on Saturday evening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Well Street between 6.40-7pm, which is alleged to have involved a large group of people.

A drink was thrown over a 45-year-old local man and when he confronted the suspect, he was hit over the head with the empty glass causing it to smash.

The victim suffered a minor head injury as a result.

The suspect was then believed to have been assaulted.

A 30-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until March 17.
