Witnesses sought after Barnstaple slash assault

A man was left with slash wounds to his face and neck after an assault near Barnstaple bus station in the early hours of this morning (Thursday.) The 31-year-old called police at around 2.35am from the bus station and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A man was left with slash wounds to his face and neck after an assault near Barnstaple bus station in the early hours of this morning (Thursday.)The 31-year-old called police at around 2.35am from the bus station and was taken to hospital for treatment.He sustained two slashes to the cheek and which are not life threatening, but he is thought to currently still be in hospital.After receiving the call, police said they secured the area around the bus station and "recovered weapons."No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone who saw anything between the area of the Bar Toko night club (formerly Glitterball) and the bus station in the early hours of Thursday morning is asked to get in touch.Call police on 08452 777444, quoting police reference 91 050309.
