Don’t miss a feast of music and dancing with the Wren Music Winter Concert and Ceilidh at Holy Trinity Church in Barnstaple on Saturday (December 2)
An awesome evening of seasonal music, dancing and merry-making is on offer this Saturday with a Winter Concert and Ceilidh in Barnstaple.
Music charity Wren Music is bringing together community choirs, orchestras and youth groups, to present a seasonal winter celebration of music at Holy Trinity Church from 7pm.
Entry is by donation and the event will feature more than 70 musicians, mince pies, mulled wine and a Christmas hamper raffle.
Some of the songs will be fabulous old folk carols, a few new arrangements of very well known pieces, and others have been created specially for this event.
The ceilidh will feature accompaniment from the Folk Orchestra of North Devon, with members of Roots Acoustic and the North Devon Roots Band.
Carols and songs will come from all the groups, including the North Devon Folk Choir, and Northam Lodge.
Proceeds will go towards the Wren youth programme and its work with vulnerable adults across Devon communities.
Wren choir and orchestra leader, Nick Wyke said: “There’s a huge age range taking part and performers travelling from all over North Devon and Torridge.
“Each group has prepared something special for the occasion – it’ll be a treasure trove of unusual winter songs and tunes.
“We’re especially looking forward to welcoming members of the Make Music group from Northam Lodge, another charity with whom we have a close working relationship.”
