A winner has been chosen to have her artwork on the cover of a fundraising book for Bideford’s ‘lucky’ otter.

Sophie Laurence, 19, was among more than 20 entries to the competition by the Bideford Town Centre Partnership.

Artists were invited to create a design for the front cover as part of fundraising for an otter statue on Bideford Quay, which is due to be installed by the end of the year.

Tonia Quance, of the partnership, said: “We decided that actually every single one of the entries was a winner, so they are all going in the book as art work and the artist name.

“Sadly there can only be one cover of the book, but we did feel the effort and high standard needed to be rewarded, so by including all the entries they will all get seen.”

Runners-up Sophie Cobb, a local artist, in second place and Caroline Renshaw, in third place, will also receive a page.

Anyone wishing to have a page in the book can do so for a £50+ donation towards the statue.
