Will you be going to one of tonight’s beacon parties around the region?

Beacons will be lit across North Devon tonight (Thursday) to mark the Queen's 90th birthday.

The Queen will light the first beacon herself at Windsor this evening, giving the go ahead for a chain of fires to spring up around the country.

Buckland Brewer is going to town with a party from 5.30pm at the village playing field.

As well as the lighting of the beacon, revellers can enjoy traditional British games, family quizzes, crafts, licensed bar and barbecue, plus a Right Royal Great British Bake-Off and much more.

Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council is organising a Beacon Lighting event at the New Agricultural Centre in Holsworthy.

It is at 6.30pm, with free entry, barbecue, outside bar, a youth band, steel band and DJ.

The beacon will be lit by two pupils from local schools who won an art competition organised by the council.

A beacon will be lit at Torrington's Old Bowling Green at 7.30pm, in a joint event organised by the town council and Torrington Cavaliers.

Bideford will be holding a beacon party next to the Pollyfield Centre, with the beacon being lit at 8.30pm. There will also be entertainments and refreshments.

At Woolacombe, the National Trust is lighting a beacon at Potters Hill at 8.30pm, with all welcome.

Bishops Tawton - a beacon is being lit on Codden Hill at 8.30pm.
