A Westward Ho! oyster shack is celebrating after being shortlisted for a national award and filmed for The One Show. The Glorious Oyster, run by Lyndsay Platt, has been chosen as one of three finalist in the street food or takeaway category for the BBC Food and Farming Awards. On Saturday celebrity chef Reza Mahammad visited Lyndsay and spent the afternoon with her filming for the BBC show. The feature will air on The One Show on April 28 - the same day as the awards ceremony in Bristol. Lyndsay said: I am just completely overwhelmed and humbled. The other two vendors in my category are both very different, which will make it interesting. Its nice to be able to do this for North Devon and promote what we have here. Lyndsay said it was very exciting to film with The One Show but the whole experience had rushed by in a bit of a blur. She added: I think there were 640 nominations in my category which makes it even more exciting to think I have been shortlisted. In 2014 the Gazette revealed Lyndsay was trying to raise £5,000 through crowd-funding to convert a horsebox into the shack. She exceeded her total in less than a month and is now a regular feature on the Westward Ho! seafront, championing local catch.
