Outline plans for £3million hotel, spa and restaurant in Westward Ho! are being recommended for approval next week.
Proposals for a £3million hotel in the heart of Westward Ho! are due to go before the planning committee next week.
The outline plans for the 15-room hotel, including a rooftop spa and restaurant, are recommended for approval at the Torridge District Council meeting on Thursday, January 22.
The hotel plans, submitted by Westward Living, will be situated in front of the new public toilets, on land which was earmarked for use as a village square.
However, since the village green has been regenerated, developer Alan Smith told the Gazette in October the use of this area of a square was ‘redundant’.
“As part of the regeneration program Westward Ho! needs more accommodation and in particular it’s own four star, prestigious hotel,” he said.
Parking will be by arrangement with Torridge and a loading bay on Golf Links Road is hoped to alleviate congestion.
The construction of the hotel, if approved, will take 18 months and it is thought to create up to 70 jobs.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting at Bideford Town Hall at 9.30am.
