Kath Parris enjoyed an afternoon birthday cake and buffet on the day, and on Monday she will be heading to Fremington Quay with other residents for a cream tea. Kath was born in Gravesend, Kent, on August 29, 1914, to parents Jim, a ships captain, and Jessie, a housewife. She had two brothers called Jack and Jim. At school, her favourite subject was English, and she followed on from this by working at a secretarial college as a shorthand typist and secretary. Kath met her husband, Arthur, at school, and they married in 1940. They had two children, John and Linda. Now a resident at Golden Sands, Kath enjoys an evening tipple of sherry, and is partial to marshmallows and Quavers as well.
