A resident at Golden Sands in Westward Ho! celebrated her 104th birthday today (Wednesday).
Kath Parris enjoyed an afternoon birthday cake and buffet on the day, and on Monday she will be heading to Fremington Quay with other residents for a cream tea.
Kath was born in Gravesend, Kent, on August 29, 1914, to parents Jim, a ship’s captain, and Jessie, a housewife.
She had two brothers called Jack and Jim.
At school, her favourite subject was English, and she followed on from this by working at a secretarial college as a shorthand typist and secretary.
Kath met her husband, Arthur, at school, and they married in 1940. They had two children, John and Linda.
Now a resident at Golden Sands, Kath enjoys an evening tipple of sherry, and is partial to marshmallows and Quavers as well.
