TALENTED speech and drama students at West Buckland School have talked themselves to a number of top awards in recent months.

All 62 prep and senior school students examined in Verse and Prose, and Acting and Public Speaking by examiners from The London Academy of Drama (Lamda) and The Vanguard Board passed, many gaining Merits and Distinctions.

Among the Lamda gold medallists were Rhys Williams, Barnaby Hayward, Lizzie Kelly, Polly Goodman, Rebecca Swaby-Miller. The silver medallists were Mark Byford, Rebecca Markham, Emily Attenburrow and Tess Rees. The bronze medals were awarded to Frances Hughes, Amber Parker, Ana Fernandez, Alicia Browne, Stephanie Hall, Molly Bruntnell-Chesworth, Freya Wormesley and Hannah Cluley.

A senior Vanguard medal went to Frances Hughes, intermediate silver to Rebecca Moore and Olivia Jeffrey, while junior silver medals were gained by Nathan Lindsey, Alex Moore, William Hughes, Aiden Roberts, Lucy Treweeke and Jessie Dean.

School drama teachers Kathy Kettle and Angela Passmore said, "The continued high standard of performance is due to the pupils' spontaneity, commitment and lively enthusiasm; they are a pleasure to teach.
